In the United States almost a fourth of the homes use septic systems with more than 4 billion gallons of wastewater per day entering the ground.

There are many good reasons to keep your system working properly treating your household wastewater. One of the most important is keeping the spread of infection and disease to nearby water sources. There are many pollutants found in household wastewater. Some of them are nitrogen, phosphorus and disease causing bacteria and viruses. A well maintained and working septic system will effectively eliminate most of these pollutants.

In the United States almost a fourth of the homes use septic systems with more than 4 billion gallons of wastewater per day entering the ground. Poor treatment of this sewage from septic systems can cause groundwater contamination. This poses a huge threat to drinking water and human health since drinking contaminated water can cause illness and infection in people and animals. Ground water contamination can also affect the quality of local lakes and ponds causing infectious disease in swimmers and recreational users of the bodies of water. Infections range from eye and ear infections to acute gastrointestinal illness and other disease such as hepatitis.
